Badajoz

Badajoz is a province of western Spain, in the southern part of the autonomous community of Extremadura. It was formed in 1833. Badajoz province is bordered by the provinces of Caceres, Toledo, Ciudad Real, Cordoba, Sevilla, and Huelva, and by Portugal. Basajoz has an area of 21 766 sq.km., and is the largest province in Spain. Its population is 662,808 (2002). The capital is the city of Badajoz.
